Nine OL Reign players called in for September international window

Update, Sept. 15: Since the time of publication, a ninth OL Reign player has been called in to represent their national team in the upcoming window. Jess Fishlock will be joining Wales for a pair of UEFA Women’s Nations League games. They first travel to Iceland for a group-stage match on Sept. 22 at 11 AM PT, followed by a home game in Cardiff against Denmark on Sept. 26 at 11:15 AM PT.

Original story, Sept. 12: Eight OL Reign players will be with their national teams during the upcoming international window in late September. Quinn and Jordyn Huitema will be with Canada, Angelina will be with Brazil, and Alana Cook, Sofia Huerta, Rose Lavelle, Megan Rapinoe and Emily Sonnett will be with the United States. The league is off during this window so the players will not miss any club games.

Quinn and Huitema have a two-game series against Jamaica to determine the second Concacaf entrant at the 2024 Olympics. Canada first travels to Kingston, Jamaica, on Sept. 22 at 5 PM PT, followed by a return leg at BMO Field in Toronto on Sept. 26 at 4 PM PT.  The winner of this qualifier will join the United States in Paris next year.

Angelina was called in by Brazil head coach Arthur Elias for an evaluation and training session for the new coach to get acquainted with his roster. No games are officially scheduled for Brazil during this window.

The USWNT will be playing two matches against South Africa in a farewell event for long-time U.S. stalwarts Julie Ertz and Megan Rapinoe. Acting head coach Twila Kilgore called in all 21 healthy players from the World Cup roster, along with some additional young players, as the team begins to turn their attention toward building their roster for the Olympics. The first match of this window will take place at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati on Sept. 21 at 4:30 PM PT and will be the final game for Ertz, who announced her immediate retirement from both club and country at the end of August.

Then, on Sept. 24, Rapinoe will make her final national team appearance at Soldier Field in Chicago, in a game that kicks off at 2:30 PM PT. Rapinoe will then see out the end of the club season with OL Reign before hanging up her boots for good. Both USWNT matches will air on TNT and UNIVERSO and stream on Peacock.
