OL Reign vs. Washington Spirit: Gamethread
OL Reign is hosting the Washington Spirit tonight in a match that has playoff implications and will break the NWSL standalone attendance record. More than 32,000 fans are expected at Lumen Field.
The game will kick off at 5 p.m. PT and air on CBS.
The match will be Megan Rapinoe's last regular-season home game, and there will be a celebration before and after the game to recognize her career and impact.
The Reign will be without Sofia Huerta and Rose Lavelle, who are still injured, and Alana Cook and Nikki Stanton, who had to sit due to a red card and yellow card accumulation.
The Reign can clinch a spot in the playoffs this weekend with a win – and a little help. Regardless, a win will put them in a good spot heading into their final match of the season next week.
What to Watch
- Washington's pressure: The Spirit will apply a lot of pressure to the Reign, especially in the midfield. They lead the league in fouls. Can the Reign move the ball around quickly to avoid the disruption?
- Score first: The Reign have not lost a game this season when they've been winning at halftime. An early goal would get Lumen Field rocking and set the Reign up well.
- Trinity Rodman: After returning from the World Cup, Trinity Rodman has been a menace. She's quick, hard to push off the ball, and can score from anywhere. Can the Reign contain her?
