OL Reign extend Claudia Dickey through 2025 NWSL season
OL Reign announced on Friday that they have signed goalkeeper Claudia Dickey to a new contract that will keep her in Seattle through the 2025 NWSL season. Dickey was originally selected by the Reign with the 20th pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft after playing collegiately at the University of North Carolina, and her prior contract was set to expire at the end of this season.
“I am so excited to extend my time with this club,” said Dickey in a team release. “I’m confident that we will only continue to grow as a club and I can’t wait to continue my journey in such a special place.”
Dickey took over as the Reign’s starting goalkeeper late this summer after Phallon Tullis-Joyce was transferred to Manchester United. She finished the 2023 regular season with six appearances (3 shutouts) and started all three playoff matches, recording two more shutouts. In addition, she made three starts in the Challenge Cup group stage and did not concede a goal in that tournament.
“The club is pleased to extend Claudia Dickey's contract,” said general manager Lesle Gallimore in the team release. “Her skillset as a goalkeeper aligns with our desired style of play in the attack. Defensively, she excels at general shot-stopping and claiming crosses and has shown in a relatively short period of time that she can be one of the best goalkeepers in the NWSL. We look forward to her continued development with the club.”
