The Welsh invasion of Seattle is continuing, with Seattle Reign FC announcing the signing of Wales international fullback Lily Woodham from Reading in exchange for an undisclosed fee. Woodham’s contract runs through the 2025 NWSL season, with a mutual option for 2026.

"I'm thrilled and grateful to be joining Seattle Reign FC,” said Woodham in a team release. “This club has a history filled with success and I'm eager to contribute to the team as much as possible. Looking forward to playing in front of you all soon!"

Woodham has been with Reading since 2018, having made 84 appearances for the club, primarily at left fullback and left mid. Still only 23 years old, she started her professional career at Bristol City in 2017. She has 11 caps to date for Wales and has scored one goal since her full international debut in 2020 after coming up through the Wales youth national team ranks.

"Lily Woodham became a professional at a very young age. Joining Seattle Reign FC is a leap she felt she needed for her career and continued development, and we are thrilled to welcome Reading's former captain to the club,” said Seattle Reign FC General Manager Lesle Gallimore in the team release. “Her game acumen is high, she is a quality defender and an attacking threat from the back. It will be fun to have her in the NWSL."
