The 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup kicks off in a couple of weeks and Seattle Reign FC will have three players in the tournament. Alana Cook (USA), Jordyn Huitema (Canada), and Quinn (Canada) have been called up by their respective national teams to take part in the tournament, which begins on Tuesday, February 20 and sees a champion crowned on Sunday, March 10. Broadcast details for the tournament are still to be announced.
Eight teams from CONCACAF and four from CONMEBOL make up the field for the first iteration of this tournament, which is effectively a Women's CONCACAF Nations League competition, with matches held across four stadiums: Snapdragon Stadium (San Diego), Dignity Health Sports Park (Carson, CA), BMO Stadium (Los Angeles), and Shell Energy Stadium (Houston).
Cook called up for the United States
United States interim coach Twila Kilgore called up Cook for the tournament, which sees the United States in group A with Mexico, Argentina, and the winner of the Guyana vs. Dominican Republic qualification match. The United States begin their CONCACAF campaign on Tuesday, February 20 against either Guyana or the Dominican Republic.
UPDATE: On February 13, U.S. Soccer announced that Cook was being replaced by Becky Sauerbrunn due to a "minor knee injury" suffered during preseason training with the Reign. Cook traveled with the Reign to Costa Rica but didn't feature in the club's friendly against the Costa Rica women's national team.
