Seattle Reign sign Emeri Adames through 2027
Seattle Reign FC announced on Wednesday that it has signed Emeri Adames to a three-year contract. The club's additional one-year option will be exercised in Adames’ first regular-season appearance, keeping the 17-year-old with Reign FC through the 2027 season.
Adames is the Reign's first U-18 signing, which the NWSL introduced in 2022 as a way for teams to sign players under 18.
“Becoming a professional and having the opportunity to play for a world-class club is a dream come true,” said Adames. “I’m so excited to begin my career here, alongside this talented group and with the leadership and support of the Reign coaching staff. I’m thankful for the ongoing support from my family and can’t wait to continue this journey.”
Adames played for Solar Soccer Club in Texas – the same club that produced Jaedyn Shaw – and graduated early from high school in December 2023. Named a "top 10 player in the 2024 class" by Top Drawer Soccer (TDS), Adames initially committed to UNC as a 5-star recruit. According to TDS, the U.S. U-19 National Team forward "is an excellent finisher with outstanding ability to link up play and time her runs in behind."
Adames has demonstrated those skills during the Reign's preseason. She started against the Costa Rica women's national team, putting in a strong cross from the left wing that created the club's first goal. The left-footed winger also showed good pace, technical skills, and plenty of comfort on the ball.
"We're elated to sign our first U18 player in Emeri Adames. Her quality of play is only outshone by the quality of her character,” said Reign FC General Manager Lesle Gallimore. “She has quickly fit in with the team on and off the pitch and is eager to learn, grow and contribute to the club's success. She is a competitor who does not shy away from taking risks and has a very good work ethic. It's fun watching her learn from the veteran players around her. I think Emeri will quickly make a name here in Seattle, and over her career, develop into one of the best to wear our crest."
Adames represented the U.S. in the 2023 Pan-American games last October, joining a team of U-19 players that went up against a mix of national teams featuring youth players and full senior national team players. She scored three goals during the tournament, including one on Olympique Lyonnais and Chile goalkeeper Christiane Endler. Adames also notched three assists.
The forward was a key member of the 2022 U.S. U-17 roster that won the 2022 Concacaf Championship. She tallied one assist during the U-17 World Cup – taking the ball to the end line and cutting it across the goal for her teammate.
In addition to her youth national team honors, Adames was a U-15 Texas Conference Player of the Year, 2023 ECNL All-American, two-time Dallas Cup and State Cup winner, International Girls Cup and Vegas Cup champion, and school record holder for single-season goals (47) her freshman year.
