Fresh off their first win of the 2024 regular season, the Seattle Sounders head back on the road to play an FC Dallas team who is in an even bigger rut. Since winning their season opener against the San Jose Earthquakes, Dallas have gone 0-4-1 and been outscored 9-4.
One of the teams who can rival the Sounders’ injury woes, Dallas is still without midfielder Alan Velasco, lost Paxton Pomykal again and could be missing as many as four other potential starters. Star attacker Jesus Ferreira has missed the last three games with a hamstring injury, while record signing Peter Musa has just one goal and one assist in five appearances.
The Sounders, meanwhile, boast their shortest injury list of the season, with just Reed Baker-Whiting, Pedro de la Vega and Braudilio Rodrigues listed as out.
Notes
- Stefan Frei is set to make his 300th Sounders appearance on Saturday. Just two other players have accomplished that feat in MLS history, the Timbers’ Diego Chara (374) and the Revolution’s Andrew Farrell (329).
- The Sounders have played Dallas 43 times in MLS competition, the second-most they’ve played any team (they’ve played the LA Galaxy 45 times). The Sounders have a 14-8-10 advantage in regular-season play and a 5-1 series advantage in the postseason, including a win in last year’s first round. Sounders are 4-7-6 in Frisco during the regular season.
- Last week’s win over CF Montreal marked the seventh time the Sounders have scored at least five goals in their MLS history, and the first since beating the Timbers 6-2 in 2021.
- With his assist last week, Cristian Roldan tied Fredy Montero for second on the Sounders’ all-time list (52).
