Date, time set for Sounders U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal

The date and time has finally been set for the Seattle Sounders’ U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal against Sacramento Republic. The match will be played on Tuesday, July 9 at Heart Health Park in Sacramento and will kick off at 8 PM.

The Sounders have a home game against the New England Revolution on July 6 and a road game against Austin FC on July 13.

The Republic, meanwhile, have a road game against New Mexico United on July 6 and a home game against North Carolina FC on July 13.

This will be the second-ever competitive meeting between the Sounders and Republic. In 2018, the Republic beat the Sounders 2-1 in the fourth round of the Open Cup. The Republic have gone 5-5-1 all-time against MLS opposition in the Open Cup, including a win over the San Jose Earthquakes in the Round of 16.

The winner of this quarterfinal will host the winner of LAFC-New Mexico United on Aug. 27-28. If it’s the Sounders, the match will be played at Starfire Stadium.

The other half of the bracket features Atlanta United-Indy Eleven on July 9 and Sporting KC-FC Dallas on July 10. Hosting rights for the final have not yet been determined.
