RENTON — Raúl Ruidíaz and Nouhou have both been effectively suspended for the week, meaning they will not train with the team nor play in the Seattle Sounders’ match against the Chicago Fire on Saturday, multiple sources have told Sounder at Heart.

The punishment stems from a locker-room argument they both got into with head coach Brian Schmetzer after they chose not to join their teammates in the postgame fan acknowledgment.

It was not immediately clear when the players would rejoin training but the sources indicated that it could be as soon as next week.

When asked directly about the situation, Schmetzer declined to give details and referred to their absence from Tuesday’s training as “an internal matter.”

“It’s an ongoing process,” Schmetzer said. “I’ll give you more information later in the week.”
