Sounders vs. FC Dallas: Highlights, stats and quotes
The Seattle Sounders extended their home unbeaten streak against FC Dallas to 21 games across all competitions, this time erasing a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 on a 90+4’ Jordan Morris strike. That was Morris’ second goal of the night, with the first coming in the 88th minute on a corner kick to equalize. Raúl Ruidíaz also scored a goal and Albert Rusnák had two assists.
It marked just the second time in Sounders history that they’ve come back from two goals down to win a game, but it was the second time they’d erased a 2-0 deficit to get a point in the last four days.
The Sounders were not able to move up the table, but did pull even on points with the Vancouver Whitecaps who are now in ninth place. Only four points separate fifth-place Minnesota United and 10th place Sounders.

Quotes
SOUNDERS FC HEAD COACH BRIAN SCHMETZER
On his thoughts on tonight’s game:
“Last match we had talked about one of the worst halves of soccer maybe that we’ve played this year. What I would say about this game is that [it was] exciting, nerve-wracking, credit to that group of players in there for [never quitting], never [giving up]. Raúl [Ruidíaz] scoring, an unbelievably good goal, followed by Jordan [Morris’] two tremendous goals. That makes me really proud, that we were able to keep it together and not just play good soccer for the second half but some of the stuff in the first half, especially the first 15 minutes I though the ball movement, everything was good. Some of the one touch passing, clean. It was really to me, of course I’ll watch the tape and film, but from an emotional level to go from up high to down low, up high, down low, up high, it was a good game, and hopefully people were tuned in. Even the people that maybe thought we might lose at 2-0. I hope they stuck around to watch the game because it was a great ending to a great game.”
SOUNDERS FC MIDFIELDER OBED VARGAS
On his pass leading to the winning goal after being seemingly injured:
“I asked for a sub because I thought there was no point of me limping around on the field when we needed a goal. And so as I felt the contact on that play I was like ‘yeah I’m going to be limping around for a little bit.’ I [didn’t] know how much time [was left] I think it was the 90th or 88th [minute], I was like ‘better put someone on [more fresh] than me’ and there was no subs so I had to stay on the field.”
SOUNDERS FC MIDFIELDER ALBERT RUSNÁK
On more goals coming from set pieces:
“I think it just comes down to that we just didn’t give up. In three, four days we have been down 2-0 twice. To come away with four points from those two games is actually good. I’ll be honest I don’t care if the goal comes from a corner, penalty, free kick, whatever. But today we actually got a little bit of everything and it’s good to see our strikers scoring, both of them getting on the scoresheet. I think that’s really good and it the grit and determination. We just kept going and in the end it kind of paid out. I think we played some games this year where we pushed and pushed and pushed and it didn’t end well for us and this could be a turning point, I feel like, this season, this win could be a turning point. We have two more home games coming up. I said it before this game, we need nine points out of the three home games to climb up in the standings and it was hard work today, but we got it done. So, we’ll enjoy this win tonight, tomorrow and then from Monday on we start preparing for the next game.”
SOUNDERS FC FORWARD JORDAN MORRIS
On his two goals:
“Yeah, it’s a big result, that’s obviously what it comes down to. Obviously, I’m happy to get on the score sheet, but we needed that. [Dallas] is right behind us in the standings. I haven’t looked at the standings yet but someone said we jumped up a little bit. We need to keep winning at home, we have two more home games in this stretch. We got seven points this week, which is great. We just need to keep building on these performances.”
