Matchday 23 Agenda Check: Rusnák, Morris keep cooking
Welcome to the Matchday 23 edition of the written version of the Lobbing Scorchers Agenda Check, where each week we take a look at the status of various agendas that we either would like to push ourselves or notice permeating among the fan base surrounding particular Sounders players.
Let’s dive in.
Rusnák is terrible
Agenda status: Diminished
Some will say the goals he scored don’t “really count” because they were penalties, but unfortunately for the purveyors of that agenda, that’s not how it works. Rusnák scored both of Seattle’s goals against Chicago, and while they weren’t from open play, it can’t be overstated how much pressure was on him and the team when he stepped to the spot both times, especially on the late winner. He delivered.
The brace brings Rusnák’s haul for the season up to 3g/9a. This is the best run of form of his Sounders career. It was fair to assign him some of the blame for Seattle’s early-season struggles, but he should get credit for his role in this recent resurgence.
