The summer transfer window is officially open today, and the Seattle Sounders are hoping to add an attacking piece to bolster their chances for trophies in 2024 and beyond. Based on Sounder at Heart’s reporting, their primary target appears to be Dario Špikić, a fleet-footed Croatian winger in need of a change of scenery.

For a player with 125 appearances for the top club in Croatia — and a few dozen more at the youth international level — Špikić has a shocking lack of YouTube highlight compilations with bad techno music. I clipped together some of his top goal contributions over the last year to tide us over, but goal highlights only tell so much about a player.

So if you have been yearning for the excitement of the summer transfer season once again, then settle in with a cold beverage, put some generic techno highlight music on in the background, and let’s meet Dario Špikić:

Where does he play?

Špikić was born in the capital city of Zagreb and has spent the bulk of his professional career playing for his current team Dinamo Zagreb, the largest club in Croatia. The Croatian league is quite top-heavy, with Dinamo crowned champions in 18 of the last 20 seasons. Playing for an expected victor has its challenges. There is little patience for underperformance and every minute must be earned.
