Sounders reportedly pursuing Croatian winger
After months of silence, there is finally some chatter about a potential Seattle Sounders signing. A report out of Croatia suggests the Sounders are considering a move for Dinamo Zagreb winger Dario Špikić.
There aren't a ton of available stats or even easily accessible highlights from the SuperSport HNL – Croatia’s top flight – but what we have on Špikić at least suggests he’s the type of player the Sounders are likely looking for. He’s 25, plays on both wings and is a regular starter for Croatia’s top team. Over the last two seasons, he had 11 goals and seven assists in about 3,600 minutes, a goal-contribution rate of about .45 per 90 minutes. At one point he was a high enough-level prospect that he got 34 appearances and scored 11 goals for various Croatia youth national teams between 2015-20.
Transfermarkt pegs his value around $2 million, which would likely put him somewhere near the top of the Sounders’ price range given that they don’t currently have an open Designated Player spot nor plans to buy out anyone.
