Sounders will host the New England Revolution at 7:30 PM on MLS Season Pass.

FULLTIME: The Sounders beat the New England Revolution 2-0 behind goals from Jordan Morris and Albert Rusnák, who also had an assist. The win pushes the Sounders into sixth in the Western Conference and gives them their first three-game winning streak since early last year. It was also their fourth straight home win, the first time they’ve done that since 2020.

SOUNDERS 2, REVOLUTION 0: Albert Rusnák got the dagger in the 81st minute, taking a pass from Obed Vargas and scoring from about 22 yards.

SOUNDERS 1, REVOLUTION 0: Jordan Morris bagged his eighth goal of the season and his seventh goal in nine games, taking a well-weighted pass from Albert Rusnák, shrugging off a defender and blasting into the net.

LINEUPS: Nouhou goes straight back into the starting lineup after missing last week’s game due to an unofficial suspension, replacing Reed Baker-Whiting. Also notable is Cristian Roldan starting at right back in place of his brother Alex, with Paul Rothrock taking up the right midfielder spot.

The Seattle Sounders will face the New England Revolution in a match featuring two teams that started the season horribly and have been turning things around of late. The Sounders have recovered from a 1-5-3 start of the season to go 6-2-4 over the past couple of months. Similarly, the Revolution were on pace for one of the worst seasons in MLS history when they opened 2-10-1 but have suddenly won 5 of 6, including their match against Atlanta United on Wednesday.

The Sounders have the benefit of rest, as well as some history on their side. The Revolution have not won a road game against the Western Conference since 2019 and the only time they won in Seattle was their first visit in 2009. The Sounders have gone 2-0-3 in their last five home games against the Revs, with the most recent game coming in 2019, which ended in a 3-3 draw.

The Sounders are also quite a bit healthier than the Revs, with only Braudilio Rodrigues (hamstring) on the injury list. The Revs have four players listed as out — most notably Designated Player Carles Gil — and a host of others listed as questionable.

Notes

  • Thanks to a quirk in the scheduling, a win would catapult the Sounders from ninth to sixth place regardless of what happens elsewhere today. All three teams they can jump will play on Sunday, however.
  • Pedro de la Vega is expected to feature off the bench, again. If he plays, it will mark the first time since the second game of the season that he’s appeared in consecutive matches. He played about 15 minutes against the Chicago Fire last week.
  • Wade Webber, who played for the Sounders in 1994-96 and has been working on the technical side since 2016, will be honored in a pregame ceremony as part of the team’s season-long celebration of their 50th Anniversary. He currently serves as the Director of Development, overseeing the Sounders Academy.
  • No current Sounders have ever scored against the Revolution, while the only Revs player to score against the Sounders (Carles Gil) won’t play.
