Seattle Reign returns to regular-season play on Sunday night, hosting the North Carolina Courage. The match kicks off at 7 PM PT and will air on ESPN2 and stream on ESPN+. More than 15,000 fans are expected to attend the Reign's first regular-season game since July 7.
The Reign will honor club legend Megan Rapinoe with a jersey retirement ceremony ahead of the match. Fans attending in person should be in their seats by 6:28 PM PT to enjoy the celebration. The ceremony will air on ESPN starting at 6:45 PM PT.
This is a critical match for the Reign (2-9-5), who sit in last place after earlier results this weekend. A win could lift them into 12th. The playoffs are still potentially in the picture, but the team has to turn things around. Starting now.
The Courage (8-7-1) enter the match on a three-game winning streak, but the visitors have struggled on the road, winning just one of their eight road matches this year.
What to Watch
- How the Reign defend a Courage team that likes to keep the ball and move it around the field quickly.
- Can Seattle's new additions make an impact and help the team be more composed on the offensive and defensive ends?
- The Reign are a real threat when they score early – it sure would be nice to see that tonight.
