Quotes

On tonight’s win over Houston:

“Well, the team responded well mentally. I mean, maybe physically, we could have scored the goal, but mentally, they were very good. There’re a couple guys that got some yellows that were good. You know, penalty kicks are always a mental exercise. You know, I think our guys were good, [Stefan Frei] guessed right or knew, you know, forced the guy to miss it wide. So, all in all, mentally, I think they checked the box.”

On winning the shootout:

“Us goalkeepers usually do [count misses as saves]. We think that if you can force someone to miss the frame, we always say that in training ‘oh that counts as a save.’ Honestly, I don’t really care because as long as he missed it and our guys were clinical today. If that doesn’t give you confidence, really nice to see.”

On how important Carrasquilla’s red card is:

“I think it’s a very important piece, leading into the next game. He’s not going to be there. He’s a vital piece for that team and obviously it was a scuffle that led in to some different things and fortunately our guys were able to stay out of it. Like we said, this year has been a tough year for cards for us and so fortunate for us to be staying out of that and the other team getting affected by it as well.”
