It’s been more than three years since the Seattle Sounders last beat LAFC, a stretch of 10 games across all competitions. That includes four losses this year, three of them in Seattle. This will be the second time the Sounders play at BMO Stadium this year, after playing their season opener there back in February.

This is also the fourth straight time the Sounders have faced LAFC in a knockout tournament, dating to last year’s meeting in the Western Conference semifinals.

All of which is to say, the Sounders feel like they might be due to turn things around.

The Sounders have advanced to the Western Conference semifinals in 14 of 16 seasons, the only MLS expansion team to accomplish that. If they win, they’d become just the sixth team in MLS history to qualify for the conference finals at least seven times.
Jordan Morris is two goals away from tying Obafemi Martins’ team record for the most all-competitions goals in a single season.
Pedro de la Vega logged his longest appearance of the season in the Sounders’ last game, playing 89 minutes in Game 2 against the Houston Dynamo.
