Reign sign fullback Hanna Glas to one-year contract
Swedish fullback Hanna Glas has agreed to a new one-year contract with Seattle Reign, the club announced on Wednesday. The deal also includes a mutual option for the 2026 season. With Ryanne Brown still recovering from an ACL injury and Sofia Huerta’s loan to Lyon extending until the summer, Glas will provide some much-needed veteran depth at both fullback positions.
“I’m grateful to continue my career here in Seattle,” said Glas in a team release. “After joining the Reign late last season, I immediately felt a warm welcome from everyone involved. I’m fully committed to helping this team achieve our goals, and I’ll continue to give everything I’ve got for our supporters as we prepare for the 2025 season."
Glas was acquired from the Kansas City Current in early September, and she made her club and NWSL regular-season debut two weeks later against Gotham FC. She featured in all seven Reign matches from that point on, starting six games. Glas was due to become a free agent at the end of this year.
The 31-year-old retired from the Swedish women’s national team earlier this year in order to focus on her club career after a knee injury cost her the entirety of 2023 and half of the 2024 season.
“Hanna made an immediate and positive impact upon joining the club this summer, and her return brings both consistency and certainty to our squad,” said Seattle Reign FC General Manager Lesle Gallimore in the release. “With a full preseason ahead, we’re excited to see her leadership, experience and readiness fully on display as she continues to play an integral role in our team. Hanna’s maturity and poise stem from her extensive career at the highest levels of professional and international football. Her presence on and off the field will be invaluable as we look to build on our success.”
