The Tacoma Defiance have added a bit of pace to their midfield, signing Lebanese-Australian Jackson Khoury on Monday. The 22-year-old spent most of the last two seasons with South Georgia Tormenta in USL League One, where he won Young Player of the Year in 2023 after putting up seven goals and six assists in about 2,000 minutes.

“He’s a dynamic player who brings a unique skillset to our club, and we are confident his experience in Australia and in USL League One will serve him well as he competes at the next level,” Sounders Director of Development Wade Webber said in a team release. “His profile can help us continue to grow as a collective. We look forward to working with him and helping him take the next step in his career in 2025.”

The Sounders have apparently been watching Khoury for at least a couple of years and are reasonably confident he can recover from what was a pretty underwhelming second season with Tormenta, in which he was limited to just one goal and two assists across 32 matches in all competitions.

Khoury’s signing brings the Defiance roster to 11 players.

GOALKEEPERS (1): Lars Helleren

DEFENDERS (3): Elias Katsaros, Kalani Kossa-Rienzi, Antino Lopez

MIDFIELDERS (4): Chris Aquino, Snyder Brunell, Sebastian Gomez, Antonio Herrera

FORWARDS (3): Osaze De Rosario, Jackson Khoury, Yu Tsukanome
