The Seattle Sounders have effectively completed a trade to acquire Jesus Ferreira with the deal’s details now agreed upon and only awaiting final sign-off from various parties, Sounder at Heart has confirmed. The deal will likely be formally announced in the coming days. Tom Bogert was the first to report the news on Tuesday, noting that FC Dallas would receive $2 million in General Allocation Money, an international roster spot and Léo Chú.
Although Ferreira is coming off a disappointing 2024 campaign in which he had five goals and six assists while playing less than 1,400 minutes, he also became the youngest player in MLS history to reach 50 career goals. He enters his age 24 season with 53 goals and 34 assists in his MLS career. He also has 15 career goals in 23 appearances for the USMNT, which includes a start in the 2022 World Cup. About a year ago, FC Dallas had accepted an $13 million transfer offer from Spartak Moscow that was ultimately vetoed by MLS.
The move to the Sounders, which will apparently include a sizable pay cut, appears to be an attempt to get his career heading back in the right direction.
Sounder at Heart was also able to confirm a few other details of the soon-to-be-completed move:
