It took about 20 years longer than league officials would have preferred, but we finally have a “1% Derby” in MLS Cup as the LA Galaxy will host the New York Red Bulls on Saturday.
The Galaxy will be attempting to become the first time to win six MLS Cups, but this is their first final since 2014. Sounders fans have a little added interested in the Galaxy, too. A Galaxy win would push the Sounders into the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.
The Red Bulls are one of three originals who have yet to win MLS Cup and will be attempting to beat the New England Revolution and FC Dallas there. The only other time they played in the final was 2008 when they lost to the Columbus Crew.
