Omar Hassan has signed a professional contract with Tacoma Defiance, Sounder at Heart has learned. The 15-year-old becomes the second-youngest player to enter the Seattle Sounders’ “pro pathway,” joining the Defiance a few months older than Danny Leyva was when he first signed with Sounders 2 in 2018.

Hassan made his Defiance debut earlier this year, scoring in his first game against Minnesota United 2. He would make one more Defiance appearance. He has spent a fair amount of this offseason training with teams in Germany.

Hassan has also started to gain some international attention, scoring four goals in seven appearances with the United States U15 team. That included a three-goal outburst at the Valtko Markovic tournament where he won MVP.

Although a bit undersized, Hassan’s speed and skill off the wing suggests he has real potential to be a difference-maker at the next level.
