Seattle Reign FC has signed free agent Madison Curry through the 2027 NWSL season. The Orange County native was selected 51st overall by her hometown Angel City FC in the 2024 NWSL draft.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to join the Reign and be a part of this incredible community in Seattle,” said Curry. “This club has a standard of excellence, and I’m ready to get started and contribute to that standard as much as possible in 2025 and beyond.”
Reign FC general manager Lesle Gallimore noted that Curry has been on the team's radar for a while. “Madi showcased her talent and impact during her impressive rookie season in the NWSL. A tough, competitive defender, she gained valuable experience that only reinforced her potential, which made her a standout in our 2024 draft evaluations. Madi brings not only a strong defensive presence but also an ability to attack from the back, fitting seamlessly into our style of play. We're excited to see the impact she'll have on our team this season.”
Curry played 22 matches for Angel City in her rookie season, starting 20 of them. She easily adjusted to being a pro, scoring in her second professional match on March 30 and adding an assist.
Among a deeply experienced defender pool, she led Angel City in duels won (119), tackles won (45), and interceptions (43), while finishing second on the team in clearances (89). Curry was the only player in the NWSL to record at least 70 clearances and 45 tackles won during the 2024 regular season. She was a key presence in Angel City's Summer Cup run, earning NWSL Best XI of the Month honors in July.
Curry entered the NWSL with a stellar resume of youth and collegiate experience. She's no stranger to leadership and success on big stages. She was selected to the US Youth Soccer Region 4 Olympic Development Program (ODP) in 2014, 2015, and 2016, winning an ODP National Championship in 2016. In 2018, she helped the US Soccer Development Academy to a national championship and was named MVP of the National Championship game.
Curry earned local and national attention at Rancho Santa Margarita High School, leading the team to a California Interscholastic Federation Championship in 2016 and captaining the squad in 2019. While studying neuroscience at Princeton, Curry earned three First Team All-Ivy League selections in 51 matches. She co-captained the Tigers through their 2023 NCAA Tournament appearance, playing all 200 minutes.
Throughout her college career, Curry spent time with Kansas City Current II and the SoCal Reds FC of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL).
