Seattle Reign will be playing Coachella as part of an expanded Coachella Valley Invitational preseason tournament at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA, in mid-February. Six NWSL teams will each play a pair of games to end the event, which will also include over a dozen MLS teams earlier in the month, though not the Sounders.
“We are thrilled to participate in the Coachella Valley Invitational as we set our sights on the 2025 NWSL season,” said Reign Chief Business Officer Maya Mendoza-Exstrom in a team release. “This event, the largest preseason event in North American professional soccer history, provides an excellent opportunity to compete against top-tier opponents as we prepare for an always tough NWSL season. We are working hard on 2025 already, and this event is a key part of our strategy to prepare our team to start the 2025 campaign successfully.”
The Reign will play Bay FC on Sunday, February 16, at 1 p.m. PT, followed by a game against Angel City FC six days later on Saturday, February 22, at noon. The other NWSL teams participating in the invitational are Portland Thorns, San Diego Wave, and Houston Dash. The tournament takes place about a month after preseason camps are expected to open, and during an extended international window, meaning some key players will be absent for each team as they evaluate their rosters.
Passes for the event will go on sale on Wednesday, December 18, at 2 p.m. PT at coachellavalleyinvitational.com. Select matches at last year’s Invitational were streamed by clubs, but no broadcast details have been released yet for this year’s event.
