The Seattle Sounders picked three players in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft on Friday. They selected West Virginia midfielder Ryan Baer with the 28th overall pick, Seattle University defender Demian Alvarez with the 58th overall pick and Bowling Green forward Trace Terry with the 76th overall pick. Their final pick (No. 88 overall) was sent to New York City FC as part of the deal to acquire the MLS player rights for Braudilio Rodrigues.
Baer was a defensive midfielder, who played five seasons for the Mountaineers and served as their captain for much of that time.
Alvarez may be a player whose name rings some bells. Not only was he the WAC Defender of the Year in his final season at Seattle U, but he also played for Ballard FC in USL League Two. In fact, he started Ballard’s USL2 Championship game alongside Leo Burney, who just signed a Homegrown contract with the Sounders.
Terry was the Sounders’ final pick of the afternoon. He spent three years at Bowling Green, scoring 12 goals with 5 assists in 2024 as a junior.
The Sounders have not signed a player they picked in the SuperDraft since Alex Roldan in 2018, but they have routinely brought them into the Tacoma Defiance where these three players are likely to end up.
