For the third consecutive year, the Seattle Sounders appear set to be spending at least part of preseason in Marbella, Spain. The Sounders were 1 of 49 teams on the Marbella Football Center’s list of prospective visitors this winter.

If this list is accurate, there will be four other MLS teams as well as a host of European teams, mostly from Germany and Scandinavia.
Last year, the Sounders opened preseason in Seattle on Jan. 16 and moved to Spain on Jan. 25, spending about two weeks there and playing three matches before returning home around Feb. 9. They played another preseason game against the Sacramento Republic at Longacres on Feb. 17 and opened their season on Feb. 24.
This year’s preseason will likely follow a similar schedule, albeit maybe shifted up by a week as the Sounders have their first competitive game on Feb. 19 in Guatemala.
