Going just by the reactions on social-media, you might think the mood surrounding the Seattle Sounders is in the dumps. But a survey we recently distributed on those same channels turned up a much more nuanced stance. One might even call it “cautiously optimistic.”
With just over 500 responses after distributing this survey on Twitter, Bluesky and Discord, about 83% of respondents gave the Sounders’ offseason a score of 3 or better on a scale of 1-5. Perhaps even more impressive was 72% rated their mood at 4 or higher on the same scale, with just 3% saying it was 2 or lower. There were about 68% of respondents who predicted the Sounders would win at least one trophy. For all the heat GM Craig Waibel has received, less than 20% of respondents graded him at 2 or below.
But social media does not quite capture our full readership and so we wanted to post this survey on the site as well. To get one more level of nuance, we also added a question about how many points you think the team will get. If the form below isn’t working, feel free to use this link. We’ll conduct this survey again shortly before the season and periodically during the season and chart changes.
