Sounders kit leak shows homage to coastal tribes

If the leak is accurate, the Sounders will have one of the standout looks of 2025.

If you’re the type of person who pays attention to kit leaks, you’ve probably noticed a rather troubling trend in MLS this offseason. The template adidas is using is pretty lame. For some reason, adidas seems to be going for a very 2009-look, which frankly is just not far enough in the past to be retro-cool.

Based on the leak at Footyheadlines.com, the Sounders will likely be a very distinct exception. (If you’re the type of person who wants to be surprised, I’d urge you to not click that link and to probably just stop reading now…)

The 2025 secondary kit is very clearly an homage to the tribes around the Salish Sea with “geometric shapes inspired by coastal-weaver textile patterns.” The main color scheme is very similar to “Pacific Blue” they used in 2016-17, but also incorporates the new shades of blue that were officially introduced with 2023’s “brand refresh.”

This will likely be one of two new jerseys the Sounders unveil last year, which will join last year’s “Anniversary Kit.” The third jersey is expected to be released this summer ahead of the Club World Cup.
