An own-goal in the 90+2nd minute undid an otherwise strong performance that included a Jordan Morris brace – that pulled him even with Raúl Ruidíaz on the club’s all-time scoring list – as the Seattle Sounders were forced to settle for a 2-2 tie with Charlotte FC. The Sounders dominated the match statistically, but Charlotte got a goal off a corner in the first half and then equalized after two of the best defenders in the league combined to bungle home an own-goal.

Quotes
SOUNDERS FC HEAD COACH BRIAN SCHMETZER
On Jordan Morris career achievement tonight:
“[Jordan] has been a fantastic person. Fantastic player for this club. I mean, twenty-five game winners, that's a pretty big number. You know, he's, he's found a way to help us win games. He does so many things in the community. He's such a good story. He's surpassing pretty good players. I mean, look, Raúl [Ruidíaz] was tremendous in his prime. And we had Clint [Dempsey], and we had [Obafemi Martins]. And we had, you know, a lot of good forwards and attacking players at this club. And for a local guy to persevere and come through and now share that record, but he's going to break it. It's a tremendous achievement by Jordan, and he was very complementary of his teammates in there, so that's a great storyline.”
SOUNDERS FC FORWARD JORDAN MORRIS
On tying Raúl Ruidíaz’s all-competition goal record:
“That’s a huge honor. Looking at the other names on that list, a player like Raúl [Ruidíaz]. To be a kid growing up here in Seattle and playing for the academy and being a fan of the team, to put your name in the history books like that is a huge honor. I think it’s going to take a little bit to set in, especially after a result like this. But it means a lot to me, it means a lot my family, it’s a cool moment.”
SOUNDERS FC GOALKEEPER STEFAN FREI
On giving up the game-tying goal late:
“We are going to look at that and probably learn from it. We maybe had two instances where we felt like ‘okay, we got it.’ The pass back to me could have been sharp, clean that one up a little bit, or boot it out of the stadium. Sometimes it’s easier after something to say that [it should have been different]. And then retreat a little bit more and secure that zone in front of the goalkeeper. [Maybe I need to] close my legs a little bit quicker. You know me, I like to focus on the positives. To give it away at the very end is frustrating. But I saw a lot of good things today. We are going to have to clean some things up here and there too. But lots of positives to look at as well.”
