Seattle Reign continue their early season road trip today with a visit to Los Angeles to face Angel City FC. The game kicks off at 5 PM PT and will air on CBS Sports Network.
The Reign will be without Jess Fishlock, who suffered a leg injury last week and is out. Nérilia Mondésir has returned to training and is available for selection, but the rest of the injury list remains unchanged from last weekend.
Seattle is coming off a 2-1 win at North Carolina last weekend, while Angel City played to a second consecutive 1-1 draw, this time at Portland. Seattle and Angel City have played 11 times across all NWSL competitions, with the Reign holding an 8-2-1 advantage in the series. When traveling to LA, the Reign are 4-1-0 and have scored 12 goals while conceding 7.
Keys to the game
- Stop Alyssa Thompson from getting in behind
- Close down quickly and eliminate space for opponents to dribble into
- Stay focused for 90+ minutes, especially after restarts
Notes
- After missing last week with an excused absence, Shae Holmes has returned and is available for selection. With Fishlock out, the Reign will need to use their third different lineup in three matches.
- The two clubs met in preseason during the Coachella Valley Invitational, splitting points with a 1-1 draw. Maddie Dahlien scored on a long breakaway for Seattle, while Casey Phair got the equalizer for Angel City late in the match.
- With last week’s win over NC, the Reign have now collected 399 points in 254 all-time NWSL regular season matches, the second-best point total among all teams in the league.
