Seattle Reign’s challenging early season gauntlet continues this afternoon as the club welcomes 2024 Shield and Championship winners Orlando Pride to Lumen Field. The Pride returned nearly all of their record-breaking squad from last season and have shown no signs of a post-championship hangover, scoring 10 goals in their first three games while conceding only one.
Seattle is 7-4-7 all-time against the Pride (5-1-3 at home), although Orlando won both of last year’s meetings by matching 3-2 score lines. Notably, Seattle was one of only three teams to score multiple goals against the Pride last season, and the only club to do so in both of their meetings. They’ll be looking to maintain that attacking momentum today, while improving defensively.
Keys to the game
- Deny service to Barbra Banda
- Find rhythm early
- Strong set-piece defense
Notes
- Lynn Biyendolo should be available for selection for the first time this season after missing the first three matches with a lower leg injury, but is on a minutes restriction as she regains fitness. Jordyn Huitema has also recovered from injury and will be available for selection.
- Jess Fishlock remains unavailable as she recovers from a leg injury suffered against the Courage. Ji So-yun is a new addition to the injury report, also out with a leg injury.
- Before the match, the club will honor Fishlock for having made her 200th regular-season appearance.
- Today’s game is one of two Youth Matches the club is hosting this season, with special activities in the concourses for young supporters.
- The southwest gate will not be available to fans this weekend; only the northeast gate (Gate 3), Club and Suite gates will be open.
