Quotes

Brian Schmetzer

"The tactical piece of what I said I can repeat. Vision is the key. You can’t make a good decision unless you see the entire field. Short corner, turn around. We pressed, stole some balls, didn’t have the quality in final third. Albert cut inside he scores that 9/10 times. On the play that led to the second goal, it’s vision and awareness. Lost ball too easy. Transition defending is a lot about effort. I don’t think Jackson saw Lozano. We can’t give goals away like that. This league is too good. Mikey did a good job. His players made plays, mine didn’t."

"Pedro was good. That was a spark. I’ll accept responsibility for Georgi as a 9, it was supposed to fluid. I know Georgi is a No. 9 but I don’t know if Jesus is a 9 in the vein of Jordan. Thought Georgi could extend field. Jesus played good in right pocket against San Jose."

"Danny was going to start game. We were grasping at straws a little bit. I feel for Georgi, he wants to do well."

"We’ve had slow starts. I’m not concerned about that. But I did remind them of where we are and the challenges we face. We still have to make plays. Message was firm. But I have confidence in the team."

"Albert was pulled for an adductor injury"

"We’re 11 games into season. It’s about time for us to start going."

"The players don’t feel very good and neither do I. I don’t think any of our fans are feeling very good."

"I need some guys to step up until Jordan gets back. Reed was ok. Pedro did a good job."

Paul Rothrock

"The early goal really hurt us. We had a game plan to keep a clean sheet and like Tyson says 'you have a gameplay until you get punched in the face.' I thought we had some good possession spells. I thought we got a little rushed at the end of the half and we got more expansive as it remained 1-0 and 2-0 and it cost us. I’ll be the first to say it wasn’t good enough from all of us from me to all the guys who got on the filed. A lot of technical mistakes and costly giveaways. There was some positives, we created some chances, but not good enough on the day."

"This has to be rock bottom so far this year. Brian talked about it in the postgame, but things have to change, things have to shift. Mindset has to be better. A lot of us felt like things would take a turn and that last week awas a step in the right direction. We have make strides with training habits, mentality. I feel like it’s only up from there and I’m confident we’re a good team that will win a lot of games. It starts with one or two good results. I felt like it could be today. But training needs to be sharper more intense. Just regrouping as a group. Sometimes these losers can be good for the tam, it helps make a shift with each other."

Danny Leyva

"I feel good there. Whether it’s the pivot or the 10 position it requires a lot of focus. It doesn’t need to go fast all the time. We made a lot of mistakes on the ball and were kinda sloppy. The most important thing is taking care of the ball. We have to show and it starts with being concentrated. Best defense is with the ball so we need to take more care of it."
