LINEUPS: Georgi Minoungou will get a chance to start at the No. 9 spot with Jesús Ferreira returning to one of the two No. 10 spots.
The Seattle Sounders will have their hands full when they play San Diego FC for the first time ever. San Diego come into today’s game having claimed 11 points in their first six games, and looking quite good in the process. They lead MLS with 61% possession while also ranking second in final-third tackles.
The Sounders, meanwhile, are winless in their past three league games, albeit tying their last two. Once again, their defense looks to be strong but their offense has struggled to put the ball in the net.
The big question will be how the Sounders handle the No. 9 spot. With Jordan Morris still out and Danny Musovski limited in training all week, they will likely have to choose between Jesús Ferreira and Georgi Minoungou.
Notes
- Osaze DeRosario has joined the team on a short-term loan. The Tacoma Defiance forward has three goals and an assist this year.
- The Sounders have an all-time record of 7-2-4 against expansion teams in their first year, which includes a 3-0-1 record in their last four.
- Although they’re mid-table in terms of goals scored, the Sounders are tied for third in MLS with 11 assists.
