Quotes

Brian Schmetzer

On tonight’s win over Nashville SC:

“I mean, how fun was that first half? I mean, it was pretty good. Well, actually, the first eight or nine minutes maybe wasn't that good, but once we got our feet under us, I think we played well. And what I'll say is that the win in Dallas was an emotional win because we had to overcome a bunch of adversity, and the week of training prior to that Dallas week, I think the coaches did a fantastic job of pushing the players. The players responded, we knew we were in a hole. We had to dig ourselves out. And it was a gutty, gritty win down in Dallas. And the fear, or my fear, the coaching thing was, let's not let that effort in Dallas go to waste. And so, the objective for this game, the message to the group this training week was to make sure that when the referee blew the whistle, we wanted to come out on the front foot. We want to put Nashville under pressure because they're a good team. BJ [Callaghan] does a good job. We wanted to come out and really outwork them, outsmart them, outthink them, and the reward for the guys that played in Dallas, I think they appreciated it. So, they played hard. The guys that came in in the second half did a good job. And you guys saw [Ryan] Kent, so there were some real positives in the game tonight.”

Pedro de la Vega

On the win overall:

“It was three goals that were out of team play. It’s something that’s important to be able to achieve as a team and also something that we practice every week. And it’s always nice to have three nice goals.”

On having fun while playing:

“We always try to enjoy the games. We train for that. We train to enjoy the game. We always try to be in a good mood and have fun while we play. But we always try to do it with responsibility. We cannot avoid that and it’s something that we take very seriously. But we want to have fun.”

Danny Musovski

On how scoring goals boosts his confidence:

“Yeah, I scored last game as well. I think as a forward it’s always good to score. It helps with everything. It helps with confidence it helps off the ball. But I always feel like if I get the minutes, I’ll get the goals, I think that’s the hardest challenge for me – work hard in training and when the coach gives me a chance try to take advantage of it and I feel like I’ve done that.”
